Practice with the Planets

The (Live) Class Series

In this 8-week series you'll learn how to build a practice with the planets.

Working with some basic associations for the planets – from herbs, crystals, foods, animals, colors, tools, and actions – you'll get an idea of some ways to bring the planets into your life. Building on participant's birth charts, Bear will facilitate an interactive conversation about personalizing a practice with the planets based on rising sign.

You'll walk away with concrete steps to take for beginning to work with the planets, tuning into their frequencies through actions like: making art, chores and running errands (seriously), maintaining an altar, prayer and evocation, the clothes you wear, to the food you cook in the kitchen… the possibilities are endless.

Week 1 will be an introduction to the planetary days and nights, and will be a bit more lecture heavy than the rest of the series. Weeks 2 - 8 will all run with the same general format: we’ll take a closer look at a particular planet, and their day and night of the week. Building upon what was discussed in the first introductory class, participants will learn about the traditional correspondences of the planets from the planets, colors, people and places. Then, we’ll look at how each day might be approached differently based on a person’s rising sign and where that key planet falls in their chart.

While weeks 2 - 8 don’t build on one another, it’s highly recommended that you attend the whole series if you can.

Week 1: Introducing Practice with the Planets

An introduction to working with the planets on planetary days (and nights)! In this first session we’ll walk through an overview of the planetary days and nights – when do they fall, which planets are involved, where do the hours fit in. More importantly, what's the benefit of having a direct or daily practice with the planets? Why does it matter?

Then, Bear will walk participants through creating a personalized weekly calendar based on each person’s rising sign.

Week 2: Lusciously Lunar

We start with the Moon because They’re closest to home. Bear will talk a bit about the correspondences for the Moon, share a tarot spread for Mondays, and lead participants through a casual conversation about building a direct relationship with the Moon based on their own Moon placement and Cancer’s house in their chart.

Week 3: Mad Mercurial

Mercury is the next fastest planet, after the Moon. Mercury’s correspondences are important for everyone, one way or another – from astrology to commerce to communication itself. Taking a look at Mercury’s placement as well as both Gemini and Virgo’s houses we’ll chat about building a personal practice for Wednesdays.

Week 4: Very Venusian

Venus rules beauty, harmony, grace, and relationships. Where They land in the chart, and what Taurus and Libra are ‘doing’ can inform a devotional practice on Fridays (as well as Monday nights).

Learn about the scents, colors, and tastes of that are entryways into working with the sensual sphere of Venus.

Week 5: Salutations to the Sun

Right there in the name Sun-day, the center of the Solar system is the symbol for the center of our experience: our Self. You don’t have to watch the sunrise to build a personal practice with Sol. Learn what your Sun placement and Leo’s house have to say about building a relationship with the Sun’s days and nights.

Week 6: Maximally Martial

Mars may be called a malefic, but building a relationship with this hot and spicy planet can be beneficial and quite fulfilling – when handled with care. In addition to correspondences, a tarot spread, and a discussion about various Mars placements and Aries/Scorpio house variations, Bear will run down a list of precautions for planetary devotion on Tuesdays.

Week 7: Justly Jovial

Relationship with Jupiter comes with thunderous laughter and expansive wisdom. The houses that hold Sagittarius and Pisces, plus Jupiter’s placement can help you get your bearings when beginning a planetary practice on Thursdays.

Week 8: Seriously Saturnine

Saturn is a planet whose gifts come with time. Whether you’ve had your first Saturn return, or your second, or you’re still not there yet – you can still build a relationship with the planet who stands at the threshold of the stars. Saturday’s devotions can be fun and silly too (Saturn does rule clowns…). Emphasizing gentle and mundane ways of working with Saturn, we’ll wrap up the series with a look at what an ongoing (or even lifelong) practice with the planet can look like.
